Murray Johnson here. Due to a growing level of automated spamming from idiots trying to flog everything from drugs to porn on the Internet, casual visitors can now read what's being said, but can't take part in the forum without becoming registered users. Registration is no longer instant and automatic, but has to be approved by me... again to stop automated "bots" becoming members and posting disgusting links. We're still getting hit by a lot of bogus "signups" so I've disabled online registrations. To sign up for the forum please send me your proposed username and password and email address and I'll set it up for you and let you know when it's a goer. My email address is firstname.lastname@example.org
I urge interested owner builders and DIYers to take a minute to register. As well as full access to the site, signing up gives you the power to revise/edit your postings and makes you an official part of the community. It even gives you personalised color-coded "flags" each time you log in, to show you which articles are new and which you've already read.
Information provided by users won't be used for any purpose other than the smoothe administration of this forum.
By editing your postings you can add project "updates" anytime you want, and create a virtual "blog" about your OB project in a single post.
You can put images into your posts just by hitting the IMG button then typing (or cutting and pasting) the URL (full web address) into your post. eg. http://yourwebsite.com.au/images/yourpicture.jpg
(Right mouse click the image and select "open in a new window" and the full path to the image will appear in the window at the top of your web browser. In this way you can point to any image anywhere on the Net. Then hit the IMG button again at the end of the image address. Hit the "submit" button, and the picture will appear in your post on the message board.
If you don't have your own web site/web space to put images on, there are sites like http://www.photobucket.com
where you can store images free of charge. Once they're posted there you can simply "point" to them on this bulletin board and they'll appear in your postings.
One more tip: Use the search function to scan the whole byohouse site for postings of interest to you – just by using key words: eg. costing plaster painting... and you'll generate a list of every posting that has ever mentioned that word. Simply click on anything of interest to you.
Thanks for your support of http://www.byohouse.com.au
and your patience.
