Hello,

I am soon to replace existing aluminium windows in a brick veneer house with new aluminium units. The new units will be supplied with the reveal and viny-type flashing fitted to the bottom sill.

The existing windows are flashed into the sill brickwork just below the angled sill bricks. Investigation shows I can remove the existing units leaving the existing flashing in-place.

Is it possible to re-use the existing bottom sill flashing when I install the new windows? Re-using the existing flashing means I probably wouldn't have to involve a brick layer. I assume I could simply lay the flashing attached to the new windows over the top of the existing flashing. However, I'm uncertain if is this accepted practice, desirable, etc?

Any hints would be greatly appreciated.
