I'm putting a new roof on a beach house. Original roof was one of those curved things with a 6in rise if lucky. 40 years old, rusty and leaks now. Intend to fit a 12 degree pitched roof, ripple material with vertical end gables. No hips. Roof 11x 8.3 meters and original iron 11m long! Two story, full trusses too dificult to handle so I intend to use 5.5m pre-fab half trusses gang-nailed together and partnered to existing low trusses. I've rebuilt roofs before but not so extensively and Maybe if someone has a few thoughts on any problems I might encounter please?
I'm planning to prefab as much as I can on the ground, hired the safety gear, AC sheet on the end gables and eaves lining, Aluminium gutters to existing plastic down pipes. Haven't decided about iron or colorbond yet.
Can I run new trusses across the existing eaves?
Thanks, Jeff.
