Hi All,
My project is converting an old run down house into something new... not necessarily building from the ground up but by the time I add two extensions, gut the house and add disabled facilities and a new roof... so it will be new to me!!
It turns out that I have to apply to become an owner builder to do this job after all. I am very glad that I have been reading up on this site.. it is so encouraging. I have a mobility issue.. and mostly I have seen people with dollar signs in their eyes... or here comes a single woman that is disabled and has a disposable income = sucker!!! This website/forum has helped a lot with the questions I need to ask and the processes I have to go through. I may not be abled to climb up on a roof or do all the tall stuff.. but my hands still work - even if my legs don't... The more people tell me I can't do it and it will cost over $200,000 to save this house the more I am resolved to show them all... and still use recycled products!!
I hope no one will mind my asking lots of questions. I aim to take the DIS out of Disabled... and show people with that with guts and vision anything is possible... and on a budget to!!
