Project looks great Angelis.

So you are embarking on year number 3 so far?

Outside of weather hold ups, does this sit with the original time frame you had in mind?...

We will have tradesman in to do many of the tasks and project manage most of the works.

We are hoping to smash through ours in 10-12mnths so dont know if I am dreaming...lol

Keep up the good work, you must have strong mental stamina...haha

The project as a whole is coming on 3 years, yes. House slab was poured 18 months ago and we started the house walls 9 months ago now.

To be honest I'd thought we'd be roof on and finishing off the interior by now. I've kept a log of days worked and how many days we've lost to heat, wind or rain. I'm not upset at our progress.

Should add that in the past few weeks bad weather days are being used to source fixtures and fittings and hunt down recycled timbers for doors and windows. Starting to run out of storage space already though

Dont take my comments the wrong way by the way... I thought it may have been planned that way to reduce cost maybe or because you were able to use friends etc when available...

If you know where in Melbourne I am able to offload some of the non wanted items for the Hawthorn House it would be greatly appreciated.

We did have a shortfall in cash at hand on the total build cost before we started so the delays are not troubling. Amazingly we are pretty much bang on the napkin budget at the minute, and I know we have some big savings coming with my brother now in the supply game for building products.

Demo/salvage yards might be your best bet. Perhaps ebay auctions for the salvaged goods once the demo is completed. I notice you won't have a heck of a lot of room to store salvagable items from the pics you posted.

I'm sure others will have better and more informed ideas.

I ended up closing the site down and focusing on putting more cash in the bank from mid May to early October. The conditions were cold wet and miserable more days than not with freezing overnight conditions persisting well into September.

By luck I picked up a job which had me hauling meat between two local abbatoirs which happened to pass right by the block, giving me a good insight into when the conditions were improved enough to get back to work on the house.

After a big blitz with help from my retired volunteers during October we have finished the full block pours for the external walls. Walls are now being left to properly cure for 4 weeks during which focus will turn to getting verandah timbers cut and painted and the windows machined and assembled ready for when the roof is to be clad.

There will be a few more days work to finish off small details with the walls - mainly leveling ready for the top plate.

Great to see that you are back on the tools. The walls are looking fantastic. Well done!
Life seems to have gotten in the way of my project recently but hopefully things will start moving again soon.

Was looking bleak for a while there mate, I was starting to run out of jobs off site and in real danger of starting some other project to fill my time

The walls have real character with lots of visual interest to them and I'm glad we went the way we did with the mold system.
