Leadlight Windows
These photos represent side projects
that went hand in hand with building our mud-brick home. Firstly,
Cathy's leadlight windows, and secondly the conversion of two
lovely old heavily painted church pews to our dining room refectory
table. Finally, my father made a leadlight window for his grandson
James' bedroom wall, but died before being able to make one for
Anthony.

Cut leadlight for windows being
laid out prior to being leaded together.

A lead light being fitted in
place (closeup). Note the smaller specially-made brick in the
lower section, and the cut-out in the upper brick.

Fitting a lead light in place
(with the maker, Cathy).

Afternoon view of leadlight windows
from the inside, showing lovely warm light.

Leadlight, made by his grandfather,
in James' room. This was three bricks' high, compared to the
two-brick height of the other windows shown above.

Early view of a pew, to be stripped
and turned into our refectory table and benches. Photos of the
finished article are seen elsewhere around this site.
